Wifislax-4.12
Released final version wifislax-4.12
Based on slackware 14.2 STABLE , 32 bits as the base of the system and expanded as always with an arsenal of tools of all kinds for network auditing.
It maintains the philosophy of 2 kernels (normal 486 and another smp for more modern equipment)
Two desktops XFCE 4.12 and KDE 4.14.3
The default browser has been changed to firefox , since chrome is not available for 32-bit systems after the withdrawal of google for that architecture and now they only work on x64 platforms.
I have introduced enough extra packages like python3, java (full version), or qt5 (5.6.1), for those who want to continue expanding their system I have the maximum amount of facilities possible.
The kernel is 4.4.16 , the highest of the "longterm" branches, as of today (August 5, 2016)
In the distro there is a category of scripts to add or update packages that are already in the system, can be added to the live with a simple click, package as libreoffice or openoffice, multimedia programs, other browsers, libraries and a long etc ... download and compile and create the package on your machine .. from the source code, as long as it is available.
Due to the use of slackware 14.2 packages there are a lot of improvements and new features, such as networkmanager in its 1.x branch, which no longer interferes with the interfaces in monitor mode .. and this makes things much easier when it comes to audit ... since I did not try to handle them and leave them totally free.
The changelog , obviously is endless, since it has been a year since wifislax-4.11.1, you can check it in the wifislax folder of the live cd, you will see the text file with name "changes", which is a kind of logbook , where it reflects everything that has been changing, repairing or updating.
As always to thank the people of the forum and team of collaborators, who among all are reporting failures detected in the development time .... as always, special mention for geminis_demon , who is the one who helps me the vast majority of times to repair things that I am unable to fix.
I would like to comment that support for hashcat, right now is in a standstill, because AMD, does not update its catalyst driver, which is only compatible to xorg-server 1.17 and our platform already carries versions of the 1.18 branch (1.18. 3), which makes it impossible to work hashcat, plan B is to create a specific version for the use of hashcat, using stable slackware 14.1 package in which the xorg-server system is still compatible with the latest AMD driver.
This version will be "officially", the last of 32bits , the development will migrate to 64bit versions, to be able to enjoy all the advantages of this architecture, such as the ease of including UEFI, support that our 32bit versions lack
